Transmission
Transmission Lines
We offer solutions in this area with buried utility locators that can detect the frequency radiating from a cathodic protected pipes. This allows tracing of the buried pipe without having to connect a transmitter to it regardless of the length. The locator also will take current readings from the pipe and intervals and the operator will be able to detect any coating faults.
The current challenges
Challenges in the Cathodic Protection (CP) industry are to keep the electric current flowing from rectifiers and to monitor the protective coatings on pipes. Over time and outside objects rubbing against or making contact with (such as a probe bar) coated pipes can develop cuts or insulation problems which would lead to a ground fault resulting in a degraded performance.
